Gu Medicine & Ricky 'The Rockhopper' Penguin - Ice Cold
British rock band G.U. Medicine have recorded a duet with Ricky, a penguin from ZSL London Zoo as part of Jägermeister's 'Serve Ice Cold' Studio Sessions.
The unlikely collaboration between a rock band and a penguin was recorded at London's famous Strongroom Studios in Shoreditch and at as ZSL London Zoo.
Ryan Senior, from G.U. Medicine said "When I was younger I visited London Zoo and saw the penguins but I never imagined that one day I would actually get the opportunity to record a song with one of them!I thought feeding them would be the closest I ever got!"
Ryan added: "Ricky certainly wasn't microphone shy, in fact he actually tried to eat it! He squawked his vocal part like one of the true greats!"
Speaking on behalf of ZSL London Zoo, one of Ricky's keepers, Adrian Walls said: "Ricky has a big personality as visitors to our zoo and staff will testify, and although he had never worked with a music group before he was on top form"

The bag is designed to work in two modes: Driving Mode and Emotion Mode. In the Driving Mode it shows left and right turn signals for the rider, which is controlled via a detachable controller. This makes it easy for the following traffic to know the riders intent. The cool-quotient is upped with the Emotion Mode; here you can display a variety of emoticons, just for the heck of it.
The bag also displays brake signal, cruse signal and emergency signal; the acceleration sensor detects speed and turns on stop signal automatically. The signals can be controlled intuitively; pushing the lever up, turns on left turn signal and vice versa.

NMA - Paris Hilton avoids stint in jail
Earlier today, American socialite Paris Hilton appeared in a Las Vegas court to plead guilty for two misdemeanors after being caught with cocaine last month. The 29-year-old has a knack of getting out of trouble, as she also has a history of blaming others. During the World Cup in South Africa, Hilton was arrested for marijuana possession but blamed her friend Jennifer Rovero. In Corsica, France, Hilton was caught with less than a gram of marijuana and was let go. In 2007, Hilton served 23 out of her 45-day sentence for reckless driving.

A Tea Party insurgency has left rancor and discord within the GOP's big tent. Led by Sarah Palin, Tea Party candidates have scored several primary upsets against establishment candidates.
The latest victor is Christine O'Donnell. The anti-masturbation candidate has won the Republican senate nomination in Delaware, causing strategist Karl Rove to self-immolate on national television.
The Democrats, believing the Tea Party cannot win in a general election, are predictably happy with Tea Party's primary success. But are the Democrat's underestimating the strength of this populist movement?

Sweethearts of the Prison Rodeo - SXSW Trailer

Sweethearts of the Prison Rodeo goes behind prison walls to follow convict cowgirls on their journey to the 2007 Oklahoma State Penitentiary Rodeo. In 2006, female inmates were allowed to participate for the first time. In a state with the highest female incarceration rate in the country, these women share common experiences such as broken homes, drug abuse and alienation from their children. From 1940 - 2008, the Oklahoma State Penitentiary held an annual 'Prison Rodeo'. Part Wild West show and part coliseum-esque spectacle, it was one of the last of its kind - a relic of the American penal system. Prisoners compete on wild-broncs and bucking bulls, risking life-long injuries. For inmates like Danny Liles, a 14-year veteran of the rodeo, the chance to battle livestock offers a brief respite from prison life. Within this strange arena the prisoners become the heroes while the public and guards applaud.

Quran Burning FAIL: Skateboarder Foils Extremist

Is it news when somebody burns a Quran? It probably shouldn't have been.
Is it news when somebody DOESN'T burn a Quran. No. Well, maybe ...
Enter Jacob Isom, a resident of Amarillo, TX. The 23-year-old skateboarder happend to be nearby when he heard somebody mention burning a copy of the Quran. Apparently that didn't seem too righteous to Jacob, who snatched away the holy book -- already doused in a flammable liquid -- and told the agitator, "Dude, you have no Quran!" before running off.
The Amarillo Globe-News reports that Isom was wearing a t-shirt with the words, "I'm in Repent Amarillo No Joke" handwritten on the back and he accused David Grisham, from Christian fundamentalist group Repent Amarillo, of "trying to start Holy Wars."
Think Progress noticed that there's a happy ending: "As Amarillo Citizens Against Repent Amarillo's Facebook page shows, Isom made sure the book made it into the safe hands of a smiling local Muslim leader."
The incident occurred during a rally against Quran burning organized by the Amarillo Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at Sam Houston Park. No word on whether Grisham wants his Quran back. Apparently he wasn't a fan, anyway.

What if the Tea Party was Black?
A few months ago, Tim Wise wrote a widely circulated article called, "Imagine if the Tea Party Was Black " which challenged America to take a close look at the hypocrisy of the Right Wing. Now, a Pittsburgh rapper is accepting his challenge in true Hip Hop form. Jasiri X has released a video called "What if the Tea Party was Black." The Hip Hop artist says that he got the idea when Paradise,a member of the pro-black rap group X-Clan, forwarded him a copy of Wise's article. "I saw the article and I liked the concept," says the rapper. So Jasiri hit the studio with producer Cynik Lethal while Paradise grabbed his video camera and they went on their mission to defeat the Right Wing propaganda machine.

THE BEAT OF NEW YORK

Thomas Noesner, our DoP, was in New York for a shoot of the new Mercedes R-Class. Right after the job, he took his camera and strolled through the busting streets of „The City“. While screening the pictures of a drummer in the tube station, I had the idea of creating a „remix“ of the recorded drum sequence to use it as a soundtrack for the film. That´s when our sounddesigner Toussaint came into play... We composed a track around the drum beat of this guy. Watch and listen to the beat of New York!
